T Connector

The T Connector is our most popular and versatile structural pipe fitting. It is designed to natively fit electrical conduit which is readily available at your local hardware store.  The 3/4" and 1" variants will clamp securely to their respective size. The 1/2" connector variant includes two adapter shims for building with 1/2" EMT Conduit. The T fitting allows you to easily connect two pipes at a 90 degree angle or use it as an elbow on the ends of conduit.  You only need a single 5mm hex wrench for the T Connector assembly.

Description

The T connector consists of two mirrored pieces that interlock together with a puzzle piece design. The two pieces clamp together with one nut and bolt. The clamp design allows you to quickly change a connection while building or remove and reuse the connectors in a future project. The pocket feature locks the nut into place when tightening, this makes for an easy one tool assembly no matter which side the nut is on. Every connector comes with a pre applied friction band that makes connections even more secure.

Great series of parts

Until recently, I did not even know that I needed Maker Pipe, let alone that such a thing existed. I prototype and build stage equipment for a cover band. The flexibility to quickly come up with a first build, and then to quickly modify the design, is easy with just a few parts. The quality of the parts is excellent and they are priced right.

One of the handiest bits of kit for field show props

A few years ago I urged our program to move to a modular mindset for field show props. Designed and fabricated modular bases that use various inserts in corners, midpoints etc. which allows a single flat cart to be the base of a prop, a utility cart, etc. All of this is facilitated by the use of Maker Pipe connectors and EMT for basic structure above the welded steel base. This has saved me hundreds of hours of welding / fabrication over the past few seasons and saved the program a good amount of money by being able to re-use/re-configure our existing inventory of EMT and Maker Pipe connectors. While Maker Pipe has a great variety of connectors, The T connectors are by far the most adaptable as you can use multiples to achieve similar functionality to some of their more specialized connectors.

The 12'tall prisms on the field in the video are skinned in vinyl but composed of an EMT/Maker Pipe connector structure that allowed all 7 props to be disassembled into flat panels and flat cart bases enabling a significant reduction in volume for transport, ultimately saving a couple thousand in transportation costs (going from a dedicated box truck to a small section of one of our existing trucks) over that one season.
