What if you could take everything great about building with 3/4" and 1" EMT Conduit and do it at an even larger scale? That was the question that inspired our latest connector prototype.Normally when we release a new connector, the community sees it for the first time after we’ve already gone through the prototyping, testing, and finalizing.
This interest check is meant to bring you along for the ride. We not only want to know if this connector would be useful to you, but also hear your feedback earlier on in the process so we can be sure you’re getting the best possible solution for your builds and ideas.

CONNECTOR DESIGN
The T Connector is simple yet highly versatile. It connects a continuous through pipe to a terminating pipe. The T can swivel around the through pipe to create an elbow or achieve virtually any angle. The Top Rail T consists of two mirrored steel pieces that clamp around 1-3/8” diameter fence pipe. It has a built-in pocket feature which allows for a one tool assembly.
CONNECTOR DESIGN
The T Connector is simple yet highly versatile. It connects a continuous through pipe to a terminating pipe and looks like a “T” when fully assembled. The T can swivel around the through pipe to create an elbow or achieve virtually any angle. The Top Rail T consists of two mirrored steel pieces that clamp around 1-3/8” diameter fence pipe. It has a built-in pocket feature for securing an M6 nut while tightening the bolt. This means you’ll assemble the connector with a single 5mm hex wrench.

We started with connectors for ¾” EMT Conduit because it offers builders a great combination of strength and value. As of now, we have eleven ¾” EMT Conduit connector designs that allow for a variety of different connections and configurations. We are still making new ¾” connector designs, but also working on connector systems for larger pipes and builds. 1-⅜” top rail is roughly 33% larger than ¾” EMT Conduit. That may not sound like much but just look at the size difference in the photos.

It is made of galvanized steel which prevents rust and remains sturdy even in harsh weather conditions and environments. It is commonly available in home stores and comes in 10-foot lengths for right around $20. That's cheaper than 1" EMT Conduit! Some in store and online suppliers even carry 20-foot and longer pipes. Cutting shorter lengths can be done easily with a handheld pipe cutter. Just like with EMT Conduit, we’re looking to extend the benefits of Top Rail to DIYers looking to build all kinds of things, not just fencing.

One of the most versatile things about the existing Maker Pipe Connectors is the fact that they can be adapted to other pipes and tubes. The same is true for the Top Rail T Connector. Any pipe or tube with an OD of 1-⅜” will fit this connector out of the box. You can also shim the connector down to other pipe diameters. So far, we’ve only tried 1” EMT which fits well when you add a shim. This means you can incorporate Top Rail and the new T strategically in your 1" EMT projects to reinforce them.
MIX & MATCH PIPES
One of the most versatile things about the existing Maker Pipe Connectors is the fact that they can be adapted to other pipes and tubes. The same is true for the Top Rail T Connector. You'll notice that in addition to the main bolt hole the Top Rail T has four other pre-drilled holes in it. These allow you to add 1/2" self-tapping screws through the Connector and into the conduit. Adding screws will increase the overall pullout and slip strength of the connected pipes. Another great thing about using Top Rail is the fact that there are already quite a few fencing accessories that you can utilize in your DIY builds.
